Summary
Metalwork is a mainstay in any civilization. Bladesmiths, armourers, toolmakers, and more all fall under this remarkable trade, turning raw ores into any number of objects. Smiths have the expertise to forge it all - from mundane things like chains, rods, and gears, to specialized products like alloyed armour and weapons.

Tools
All Smith takes great pride in their workshop, filling them with all assortments of tools. Forges of the most successful Smiths are well-stocked, and include various hammers, tongs, chisels, punches, drifts, fullers, wire brushes, and grinding stones. The largest forges commonly include redstone-driven machine presses, drills and power-hammers, along with their own crucibles with lava as heat sources.
Smith's In-Game
Similar to the Miners, Smiths can find different ores by digging up stone. They smelt these ores into many base metals, then can alloy these metals to create a multitude of alloys. Each type of metal has different attributes both mechanically and via roleplaying.
Metal ingots can be turned into nuggets or blocks via the crafting table as per normal Minecraft. Gold and Iron ore may be smelted by anyone in a furnace and used as normal, but custom ores and alloys must be processed by a Smith.
Smiths have the ability to forge ingots into plates or slabs. Plates and slabs can be used in the crafting table to create strong weapons and armour. These share the same recipes as normal weapons and armour. For example, a battleaxe is created by using plates instead of ingots, in a normal axe recipe. Anyone can create these new weapons or armour in the crafting table.
Smiths can salvage broken weapons and armour and render them down into their base ingots. They also have the ability to repair broken equipment, but only up to three times per piece. Salvaging may then be the best option after that.
